ELLEN HAGAN

by Brenda

Today’s woman crush #womeninspire is none other than Ghanaian entrepreneur, human resource practitioner and the CEO of L’AINE Services Limited, Ellen Hagan.

Ellen is a quintessential professional. Though I haven’t met her personally, I have been admiring her since childhood and her achievements in the human resource industry have been remarkable.

Some 26 years ago, Ellen’s passion to help  people find the right jobs and stay relevant and successful in those jobs led her to set up an employment and training organisation, which she called L’AINE Services.

At the time, she had a full time job at SGS Ghana Ltd, during which period she wondered why employment agencies were absent in Ghana and most of West Africa. She would close from work and hold training programmes for people to connect them to their careers.

Today, L’AINE Services can boast of having led thousands to their destined career choice and serves as a human resource centre for outsourcing, organisational development, salary surveys, staff performance appraisals, career guidance, CV preparation, interview grooming, and psychometric tests, among others.

Ellen’s natural proclivity to inspire didn’t end there. Additionally, she co-founded Legacy Leadership Girls’ School, a secondary institution that aims at nurturing and guiding the leadership potential in girls. She also established The L’AINE Foundation, an entrepreneurship foundation that supports start-up companies with mentorship, training and funding.

Ellen Hagan’s passion to see the youth excel in their respective fields and open their eyes to new possibilities and job opportunities outside the formal work space led her to author three books – ‘All About Job Interviews’, ‘Soft Skills; What Gives a Jobseeker an Edge Over the Other’ and ‘Why Are You Here?’

As an avid writer, she writes for the HR Focus Magazine, a quarterly magazine published by L’AINE Services, currently the first and only human resource magazine in Ghana over the past decade.

Ellen’s rack of awards would stir your admiration. She won the CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year Award in 2011, the Outstanding Female Entrepreneur at the Ghana Women Awards 2013 and the Best Entrepreneur in Corporate Services 2012 by the Ghana Entrepreneurship Foundation, among others. She also received the Strategic Leadership Award by the World HRD Congress in India in February 2011 in recognition of her achievement in Human Resources development in Ghana.

Ellen has also represented the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) during International Labour Organization (ILO) conferences on numerous occasions.

Today I celebrate you, Ellen. A wife, a mother, and a career woman! Thank you for nurturing the youth and opening our eyes to the many career opportunities we hadn’t seen! Thank you for identifying, seizing and revolutionizing the human resource industry! Thank you for positioning yourself as an instrument to connect people to their pre-destined careers! Thank you for creating a unique platform for girls to take over the world! Thank you! Thank you for being a woman who inspires! #womeninspire #womancrushwednesday

Aw, this was an exceptionally nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t seem to get nearly anything done.|

Awww! Thank you for the feedback! You need to move from merely saying you will act to actually doing!
