Every cloud has a silver lining. There are no hopeless situations, only hopeless people who decide to be put down when in difficult situations. Difficult times are like dark clouds that pass overhead and block the sun. Difficult times always lead to better days.
Growing up, I always thought a difficult situation was the end for me. I would cry and sob for days and bury myself in sleep or wallow in self-pity. But truth is, not only did those days pass, I had missed out on an opportunity to learn from the situation.
Now I know better! When presented with a challenge, I look to the clouds and say, “This too shall pass.” A phrase that resonates well with me is found in Psalm 30:5, I tell myself, “Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.” Then I ask God, ‘Lord, what are you teaching me?’
Let this be your mantra. Let it be a matter of principle to always ask God what every bad situation holds. This is because every bad situation holds the possibility of something good. Just don’t forget to discover the silver lining in every cloud, dark or not.
