Today’s woman crush #womeninspire is none other than Ghanaian broadcaster, professional compère, actress and girls’ education advocate, Anita Erskine.

On women inspire we focus on outstanding women making global impact, and media mogul Anita Erskine is no exception. Anita not only fits the part but also charts the path for many women to climb up the success ladder, and her name will forever be etched in the hearts of many and in the sands of time.

It all started for Anita as far back in 1998, when she was only 20 years old. At the time, she had just begun her Broadcast Journalism career as a lifestyle, TV, and On-Air Personality.

Appearing first on TV3’s Mentor, Anita went on to host lots of shows, including The One Show on Viasat 1 and +233 Discovery. She also hosted and produced the female edition of Making of a Mogul, MNET’s Studio 53, Pamper your Mum and Cooking With.

When Anita entered the corporate world in 2007, she took on the role of Corporate Communications Director of Tigo, playing several roles in Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2015, Anita joined Accra-based Starr FM to host the drive time first with Bola Ray and then with Giovani Caleb. I will never forget the Bolanita duo, who took us home every afternoon with their warm conversations and fun loving studio sessions.

Anita continued at Starr Fm for 2 years and worked on the Starr Woman Project, an event I looked forward to attend but was never able to. Subsequently, she also hosted Tales from the Powder Room during her stay with EIB before leaving in 2017.

Anita’s passion for public speaking and media, led her to found her own communications consultancy, Anita Erskine Media, in 2016. Ideally when she resigned from Starr FM and the EIB network, she focused on building her advocacy for women and children, and her production company.

Over the years, Anita has added so much to her portfolio, becoming the chosen Host and Advisor for the Jack Ma Foundation philanthropic flagship, Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative.

Anita is also the Executive Producer and host of Sheroes of Our Time, and a WASH Ambassador for WaterAid Ghana’s behavioural change campaign in the fight against Covid-19.

Her passion for women to take on leadership roles and to get better education is evident through her self-funded scholarship scheme, Women’s Elevation Fund.

Anita is a recipient of several awards including the Radio Female Presenter of the Year (2017) at the RTP Awards, Legendary Award Winner (2016) at the Women Mean Business Honors and TV Hostess of the Year (2015) at the City People Awards.

Today, I celebrate you, Anita. Thank you for your outstanding contribution to women empowerment! Thank you for being a protector of women and girl child rights! Thank you for lending your voice and personality to project the power and prowess of African women! Thank you for encouraging the youth to take on higher educational levels and for advocating against gender-based violence! Thank you! Thank you for being a woman who inspires! #womeninspire #womancrushwednesday
